About Keenan Institute

Our History, Mission, and Commitment to Education

Our History

Keenan Institute was founded on November 19, 1998. The vision for the school was conceived during the Liberian civil war while its founders were in exile in Ivory Coast, with the goal of providing access to education for Liberian children affected by conflict.

Through the tireless advocacy of Rev. Fr. Prince T. Wreh, Sr. and his indefatigable wife, Relhetta J. Wreh, partnerships were established with Steve and Jackie Keenan of St. Christopher Episcopal Church (USA). Their support made it possible for the school to begin.

After returning from exile, the institution grew from a few classrooms into a fully established junior high school. In 2010, Keenan Institute officially began full operations in Goll Farm Community, Bong County.
